Cronos is the native token for the popular crypto app and exchange, Crypto.com. As a utility token, users can get fee discounts by paying with CRO and also stake the tokens to qualify for benefits. These include higher interest rates on deposits and better benefits on the Crypto.com prepaid debit cards. The more CRO staked, the better the rewards.
In this guide, we provide step-by-step instructions on how to setup cronos on Metamask wallet.
What is Cronos (CRO)?
Cronos is an Ethereum Virtual Machine blockchain running in parallel to the Crypto.org Chain with the aim to massively scale the DeFi ecosystem, by providing developers with the ability to instantly port apps from Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains.
Cronos is built on Ethermint, which allows rapid porting of apps & smart contracts from Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains. Cronos can process more transactions per minute than Ethereum, making it faster, cheaper, and greener to execute smart contracts.
The Inter Blockchain Communications (IBC) protocol enables interoperability and bridging to the Crypto.org Chain, and other IBC-enabled chains. Cronos base settlement currency is $CRO.
